Dance Instructor

Erica’s love of dance began at an early age, studying at local studios in Brownsville and cultivating a lifelong passion for movement and performance. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Dance from Texas State University in San Marcos and has spent many years refining her artistic voice and exploring both dance and Mexican-American cultural traditions.

From 1999 to 2021, Erica was a member of Aztlan Dance Company in Austin, serving as Rehearsal Instructor, Choreographer, Soloist, and Ensemble Dancer, where she gained extensive performance experience and developed her choreography style, learning to tell stories through dance. While in Austin, she was also involved with The Tango Project and Proyecto Teatro, expanding her range in both dance and theatre. Her teaching experience includes roles as Dance Teacher and Dance Team Instructor at Ojeda Junior High School in Del Valle, TX, Limelight Studio in Brownsville, TX, and as Dance Instructor and Assistant Dance Director at Bravo Arts in Harlingen. She currently works as a dance instructor at Rio Grande Valley Arts Studio.

Erica leads the Frontera Dance Project as Artistic Director and Choreographer. Under her direction, the company has presented Mujer Su Voz (2021), Castilian Roses (2021), an early showcase of Foremothers/Antepasadas in Austin, Texas (2022), Habitar Tierras Fronterizas: A Visual Dialogue from a Female Perspective (2023), the full-length Foremothers/Antepasadas (2023), and the Colegio Jacinto Treviño Exhibit (2025). She is currently developing the company’s next work, A South Texas Love Story.
